The Secaucus Board of Education invites qualified and interested individuals to apply for the anticipated position of Teacher Assistant.
Qualifications and Requirements- A minimum of sixty (60) credits toward a bachelor's degree.
- Pass the State School Security Clearance.
- Ability to provide assistance, encouragement, and support to special needs children.
- Valid regular or substitute teacher certificate, recorded in Hudson County.
- Ability to keep information confidential.
- Disposition compatible with the needs displayed by children with varied educational disabilities.
- Willingness to work with students at all grade levels.
- Willingness to provide discrete trial training.
- Computer literacy.
- Provide individual or small group tutoring to students at a time when a student would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher.
- Assist with classroom management, such as organizing instructional and other materials.
- Provide individual assistance and/or work with small groups of students under the direction and supervision of the certified teacher to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
- Report to the teacher noted progress and difficulties of individual students with whom the assistant is working.
- Provide assistance in a computer laboratory.
- Provide assistance with playground supervision.
- Provide assistance with organizing, duplicating, and distributing educational materials in the classroom.
- Engage children in conversation to encourage language development.
- Any specialized duty deemed necessary by the principal or designee.
- Attend all workshops/seminars scheduled by the district for faculty members.
- Teacher assistants will accompany and remain with a class at specials at the discretion of the principal or designee.
- Teacher assistants will provide support for special education students in the mainstream classes.

Supervisor of Special Services and Principal
Salary Range:
Current starting salary is $41,310 as per the SEA Contract
Employment Period:
September 2026 - June 2027
