Duration: 24 Month Contract
Location: Secaucus, NJ Responsibilities:
- Maintain the GIS model on the electric side.
- Perform analysis and create custom maps.
- Process work orders into GIS and print distribution of updates.
- Conduct tabular data and analysis.
- Spend 5-10% of the time in the field.
- Perform assignments related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of Utility Systems.
- Maintain the GIS connected model with information from various sources.
- Perform analysis or queries to assemble data and prepare reports, tabulations, charts, and maps.
- Produce standard prints and ad-hoc plots for field requests.
- Maintain service point data and its relationship to feeding source transformer.
- Track the lifespan of utility asset data, including history, inspection, and attachments.
- Resolve conflicting data, mapping, connectivity, and land issues through office or field investigation.
- Perform GIS work pertaining to major projects such as facility relocations, load rearrangement, and new business.
- Operate automated office equipment such as printers, plotters, duplication machines, facsimile, and scanners.
- File records and data pertaining to the work.
- Perform manual or computer-aided drafting.
- Operate a car or light truck.
- Assist other employees in plant work, in the field, or in the office.
- Perform other similar skilled work.
- 1-2 years of GIS experience (school or work-related).
- Ability to acquire a thorough working knowledge of the company’s business applications.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, and apparatus used in the work.
- Understanding of the Utilities’ Transmission and Distribution systems.
- Familiarity with various operating and maintenance handbooks and manuals, including safety rules and practices.
- Ability to work at various company locations based on business needs/workload.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicles in the state of New Jersey.
- Computer skills in MS Office and other Windows applications oversight/direction.
- Experience with Micro Station and AutoCAD is a strong plus.
- Experience using GIS apps and understanding relationships in GIS.
- Open to interviewing candidates that are recent college graduates with experience using GIS in school/internships.
