About The Role
We are seeking a forward-thinking Staff Facility Engineer to oversee the performance, efficiency, and reliability of our central chiller plant, facility-wide environmental monitoring systems, and BAS/BMS. This role is focused on optimizing operations, identifying potential issues before they impact performance, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. The Facility Engineer will serve as a technical advisor, coordinating with internal stakeholders, service providers, and contractors to deliver reliable facility operations while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This role will be based at our NJ location, however, will provide similar support to our Texas facility as well.
- Chiller Plant Oversight – Monitor and evaluate chiller plant performance (chillers, cooling towers, pumps, BAS/BMS) to ensure reliability, efficiency, and optimal operation.
- Strategic System Management – Analyze performance data, identify trends, and recommend system adjustments, upgrades, or replacements to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Environmental Monitoring – Oversee facility-wide environmental monitoring systems (temperature, humidity, air quality, water quality), ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance – Develop and refine preventive maintenance programs, leveraging condition-based monitoring and data analytics to minimize downtime.
- Issue Identification & Resolution – Act as the first line of technical evaluation for mechanical and electrical issues; coordinate resolution with service providers and contractors.
- Vendor & Contractor Management – Oversee vendor performance, ensuring service contracts and maintenance agreements meet operational needs.
- Compliance & Reporting – Maintain records of system performance, maintenance activities, and environmental monitoring data; ensure compliance with OSHA, ASHRAE, EPA, and other applicable standards.
- Energy Efficiency & Sustainability – Support energy management and sustainability initiatives by identifying opportunities for system improvements, optimization, and long-term capital planning.
- Project Support – Provide technical guidance for capital projects, renovations, and equipment upgrades related to HVAC, mechanical systems, and environmental monitoring.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering (or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in facilities engineering, HVAC systems, or central plant operations, with exposure to strategic planning and system optimization.
- Strong understanding of chiller plant systems, building automation systems (BAS/BMS), and environmental monitoring technologies.
- Familiarity with energy efficiency strategies and sustainability practices.
- Experience managing service providers, contractors, or vendor relationships.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret performance data and translate into actionable improvements.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (OSHA, ASHRAE, NFPA, EPA).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; able to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
The typical base salary for this position is expected to be between $93,000 and $136,400 annually. If hired, the final base salary will be determined on an individual basis taking into consideration experience, skills, knowledge, education and/or certifications.
