Senior Payroll Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Payroll Accountant in Secaucus, NJ.

Essential Functions:

• Process and oversee multi-state payroll using ADP, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
• Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries, including accruals, reconciliations, and adjustments
• Support monthly close activities, including payroll reconciliations and variance analysis
• Review employee compensation agreements, bonus plans, and incentive structures
• Calculate complex compensation and bonus arrangements, ensuring alignment with contractual terms and company policy
• Partner with HR, Finance, and Legal teams to resolve payroll and compensation-related issues
• Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation to support audits and regulatory requirements
• Develop and enhance payroll reporting and analytics using advanced Excel
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiencies

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Strong, hands‑on ADP payroll experience

• Journal entries
• Payroll reconciliations
• Monthly close support
• Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
• Proven experience reviewing compensation agreements and calculating complex compensation or bonus arrangements
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
