Job SummaryThe Director of Field Visual Merchandising is a dynamic, dual-focused leader responsible for both shaping brand-forward visual strategy and driving hands-on execution excellence across The Children’s Place store fleet. This role brings the TCP brand to life through compelling, trend-right presentations that inspire parents, delight kids, and deliver measurable commercial results.
The Director executes all corporate visual direction and leads seasonal visual direction rooted in kids’ fashion trends, outfitting strategies, and value messaging—translating assortments into fun, engaging, and easy-to-shop store experiences. In addition to enterprise visual leadership, this role serves as the execution lead for the Northeast region (TCP’s largest market) and manages and develops Visual Merchandising Leads across the Southeast and West regions.
A key cross-functional partner, this role collaborates closely with Visual, Marketing, Merchandising, and Store Operations to ensure visual direction is strategically aligned, operationally scalable, and consistently executed across a high-volume, value-driven retail environment.
Responsibilities Visual Strategy & Brand Leadership- Define and lead the enterprise visual merchandising strategy, aligned with brand positioning, customer insights, and seasonal business goals
- Translate seasonal collections into compelling, kid-focused storytelling that highlights outfitting, value, and versatility
- Establish visual standards that are engaging, easy to shop, and scalable across all store formats and volumes
- Ensure visual direction supports TCP’s promotional, value-driven retail model while maintaining strong brand integrity
- Champion head-to-toe outfitting strategies that drive multiple unit sales and simplify the shopping journey for parents
- Lead the styling direction for mannequins, windows, and key fixture presentations, incorporating color, graphics, and playful, age-appropriate elements
- Ensure product presentations clearly communicate price value, active promotions, and key item stories
- Balance current kids’ fashion trends with practical, parent-friendly navigation across all store zones
- Leverage sales data, customer insights, and store feedback to continuously refine and improve visual strategies
- Drive improvements in conversion rate, average unit retail (AUR), and units per transaction (UPT) through intentional visual execution
Ensure visual execution supports high-volume promotional cadences and peak retail periods (back-to-school, holiday, spring)
- Lead and develop a field visual team to ensure consistent execution across all stores
- Conduct regular store visits to assess visual standards, identify opportunities, and drive accountability
- Oversee visual execution for new store openings, remodels, and seasonal floor sets
- Ensure visual standards are clear, practical, and executable by store teams
- Perform photo audits for stores that are not able to be visited and/or during contests to confirm visual excellence
- Partner with Corporate Visual teams to align on product priorities, seasonal themes and assortment flow
- Collaborate with Corporate Marketing teams to bring campaigns, promotions, and brand moments to life in-store
- Partner with Corporate Visual & Store Operations teams to ensure field execution aligns with operational capacity and store realities
- Influence fixture design and store layout decisions to enhance storytelling, product viability, and customer flow
- Oversee the creation of seasonal visual guides, floor set directives, and styling tools used by the field and store teams
- Create visual update directives in partnership with the Corporate visual team
- Leverage digital tools, photography, and video content to drive alignment and execution consistency across all geographies
