Education Program Coordinator

State Fair Community College (SFCC) is seeking a full-time Education Program Coordinator based at the Sedalia campus. This position is responsible for teaching courses in the Elementary Education (EDUC) program. The instructor will provide high quality instruction using a variety of delivery modalities, support students through academic advising and engagement, recruit for the program, and serve as Program Coordinator program as well.

This position plays a key role in maintaining program quality, relevance, and alignment with workforce and transfer expectations. A significant emphasis will be placed on building enrollment through active recruitment, cultivating relationships with regional high school programs, and creating a welcoming, engaging environment that supports strong retention of students throughout their academic journey. In addition, this person will assist teaching classes within the early childhood development program as needed based on class and instructor availability.

Classes will be predominantly on the Sedalia campus but may also include extended campus sites and online at discretion of the Associate Dean. This position has a projected start date of August 1, 2026. This position reports to the Dean of Academic Affairs and Associate Dean of Arts, Human Services, Education and Early Childhood.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • The Education Instructor must teach at least 15 credit hours per semester, maintain a minimum of five student hours per week and be available during the college's operating hours, Monday through Friday
  • Deliver instruction using multiple modalities, including on ground, online, hybrid, and web conferencing formats.
  • Develop, maintain, and update course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments in alignment with departmental and college standards.
  • Ensure curriculum content is current, relevant, and aligned with best practices in early childhood and elementary education.
  • Utilize the College's Learning Management System (LMS) to manage course content, communication, and assessment.

Program Support &

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with others to promote, maintain, and grow the Education and Early Childhood Development Programs.
  • Assist with curriculum development, revision, and mapping to ensure program alignment with workforce needs, transfer pathways, and state standards.
  • Schedule courses and assist with adjunct faculty recruitment, hiring, onboarding, observations and mentoring.
  • Organize and facilitate program advisory committee meetings and maintain relationships with community and industry partners.
  • Ensure all program and course materials are accurate, accessible, and up to date in the LMS and official college documentation.
  • Assist with student recruitment and program outreach initiatives.
  • Continuously improve instruction through professional development. The instructor must show a willingness to assume instructional-related responsibilities and leadership roles beyond the classroom such as mentoring adjuncts, serving as lead instructor, and serving on committees designed for problem solving and decision making on the division and institutional levels.
  • Qualifications:

    Master's degree in Elementary Education, or a closely related field, completed by August 1, 2026, is required. Candidates with the following qualifications will receive preference:

    • Teaching experience of 3 years or more in an early childhood and/or elementary education setting.
    • A current Missouri Teaching Certificate, or Teaching Certificate from an adjacent state.
    • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in multiple instructional modalities.
    • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, early childhood theory, and elementary education foundations.
    • Community College-level teaching experience, particularly within early childhood or elementary courses.
    • Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines
    • A strong understanding of and commitment to the community college mission, including a clearly demonstrated student-centered approach to teaching and learning.
    • Commitment to academic excellence, including rigor, retention, and the use of outcomes assessment to improve instruction.
    • Familiarity with active-learning strategies and the ability to integrate them effectively in the classroom and rehearsal environments.
    • Willingness to assume leadership and service responsibilities beyond classroom instruction, including recruiting prospective students, advising current students, participating in assessment activities, and mentoring adjunct faculty
    • Proficiency with instructional technology, including experience with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas and the ability to enhance traditional courses with online components.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to represent the program professionally on campus and in the community.
