State Fair Community College (SFCC) provides high‑quality education to over 4,000 students across central Missouri, with campuses in Sedalia, Boonville, Clinton, Lake of the Ozarks, Whiteman Air Force Base, Jefferson City and online offerings.
Position PurposeAdjunct Instructor – Business, Management & Technology Pathway. Part‑time positions, scheduled as needed each semester, no benefits. Role may be taught online or at the main campus in Sedalia. Courses include Accounting, Microcomputer Applications, Business, Human Relations, Marketing, Business Management, Economics, software development and programming, Network administration, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and Web Development.
Responsibilities- Deliver quality instruction incorporating active learning, facilitating discussion, designing, assigning and evaluating student work, and providing constructive feedback within seven days of the due date.
- Prepare course shell, due dates and syllabus before class starts.
- Provide timely academic support and respond to student inquiries within 24 business hours.
- Meet academic reporting and final‑grade entry deadlines.
- Assess student learning using exams, quizzes, papers and projects; apply the grading rubric for designated learning outcomes.
- Maintain communication with the Lead Instructor and Associate Dean.
- Utilize Canvas (SFCC’s Learning Management System) and approved technology to enhance teaching.
- Complete required professional development training offered through State Fair Community College.
- Comply with all College and Program policies while maintaining professional conduct.
- Minimum Associate’s degree in the subject matter or related field, certifications, field experience and teaching/training experience required for Computer Sciences courses.
- Bachelor’s degree in the subject matter or related field preferred for Computer Sciences courses.
- Master’s degree or at least 18 graduate hours in the subject matter or related field required for business‑related courses.
- Preference for candidates with teaching or training and industry experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; passion for education; understanding of the community college population; commitment to SFCC mission; concern for rigorous academic standards; experience with active learning techniques.
- Preference given to Missouri residents.
