Biology Instructor

State Fair Community College seeks a full‑time Biology Instructor on the Sedalia campus. The position involves teaching a range of introductory to advanced biology courses, including laboratories, curriculum development, student advising, and institutional service. Evening and distance instruction may be required.

• Teach introductory to advanced biology courses (e.g., General Biology with Lab, Human Anatomy with Lab, Human Physiology with Lab).
• Develop and implement curriculum.
• Advise students and support retention.
• Participate in institutional service and other faculty tasks.
• Engage in evening and distance instruction as needed.

• Master’s degree in Biology or a closely related discipline (minimum 18 hours of biology coursework).
• At least 8 graduate hours in Human Anatomy and Physiology.
• Teaching experience or a demonstrated record of teaching preferred.
• Proficiency in technology, including Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Starfish).
• Strong oral and written communication skills and a student‑centered approach.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to the mission and vision of SFCC, rigorous academic standards, and outcomes assessment.
• Willingness to assume instructional‑related responsibilities and leadership roles beyond the classroom, such as mentoring adjuncts.
• Preference for Missouri residents.
• Employment requires a criminal background check (college expense).

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
