Build What Powers and Connects
At Prysmian, the world’s leading energy and telecom cable systems company, our 30,000 people across 50+ countries produce the cables and connectivity that enable modern life—from underground and submarine power to optical fiber and copper for communications.
Your MissionImagine taking a complex production line at our Manchester plant and, through disciplined analysis and collaborative iteration, cutting scrap, shortening cycles, elevating quality, and freeing capacity. As a Process Improvement Engineer, you will be a catalyst for that transformation—shaping methods, standardizing tools, and embedding best practices that endure.
How You’ll Lead Change- Champion process improvements that reduce cost, remove bottlenecks, and streamline manufacturing; operate as a key contributor to cross-functional projects while reporting to the Engineering Manager.
- Guide supervisors and equipment operators with clear technical direction—no direct reports, high influence.
- Run projects end-to-end: estimate costs, define designs/specs, secure approvals, purchase, install, commission, manage costs, uphold safety, and realize benefits aligned to plant objectives.
- Hit KPI and productivity targets established by the Plant Manager and Process Engineering Manager.
- Partner with Operations to resolve day-to-day issues and surface long-range opportunities for continuous improvement of the Manchester operation.
- Design and deploy programs that lower manufacturing cost, optimize quality, reduce scrap, improve cycle times, and minimize inventories and capital tied up in facilities; evaluate feasibility of new builds or major facility upgrades.
- Define processes, methods, tools, equipment, and controls to achieve optimal results across cost, quality, scrap, cycles, inventory, and facility investments.
- Standardize tooling and equipment; provide engineering support to adopt and maintain standards.
- Create operating instructions and systems; consult with production and maintenance to integrate improvements for reliable, efficient operations.
- Assist with testing of raw materials, WIP, and finished product.
- Confirm improvements meet quality requirements and collaborate with Quality to monitor production.
- Research, pilot, and scale strategies consistent with World Class Manufacturing.
- Coordinate external vendors/trainers to elevate process improvement skills across manufacturing leadership; this role is based in the plant.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
- 2–3 years of engineering experience in cable manufacturing (preferred).
- Strong analytical mindset and proven project management capability.
- Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles.
Hybrid within the site: time split between factory floor and office environments at the Manchester facility.
