Overview

Participate in the designs and development of all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment and machinery. Provide support for the installation and technical support of PLC-based hardware.

Principal

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of wire and cable equipment and processes.
  • Support the maintenance department in electrical/electronic systems troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical support and direction to the maintenance department for maintaining electrical and electronic equipment in a manner that optimizes operational performance and safety.
  • Manage small assigned projects including cost estimation, designs, specifications, approvals, procurement, installation, startup, cost control, safety and overall implementation to achieve plant and organizational objectives.
  • Support outsourced repairs of critical electronic components.
  • Adhere to all corporate and plant practices and policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local electrical codes and regulations.
  • Partner with Electrical Engineer and Controls Engineer in the development, writing, and debugging control logic for machine control, making design modifications and improvements to complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Analyze and interpret electrical schematics to the component level as required to make repairs and return equipment to operation.
  • Utilize programming devices to analyze PLC programs for failures or improvements. Maintain detailed records of critical process variables and ensure that programs are logical and comprehensible.
  • Support electricians in troubleshooting, repair, and programming AC/DC drive systems, including off-shifts and weekends.
  • Troubleshoot issues using current technology, including electrical test equipment and computer diagnosis equipment.
  • Maintain existing documentation and ensure information is accessible to other team members.
  • Participate with Operations to solve manufacturing problems, initiate productivity improvements, and identify future opportunities for ongoing improvement of the Sedalia operation.
  • Liaise with Engineering and Maintenance Team.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Manager and the Coordinator.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced computer skills, including PLC programming and CAD. (Experience with Wonderware is a plus).
  • Understanding of communication types: DH+, Serial (RS232, RS485), Control Net, Device Net, Ether Net.
  • Ability to understand routing, gateways, and VLANs.
Qualifications
  • Electrical/Electronics Technician.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in PLC, Drives, Programming in Industrial Maintenance (wire & cable experience highly desirable).
Work Environment / Physical Demands

Will work in both factory and office conditions.
