Production Supervisor

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily production operations to ensure the highest levels of safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service. This role provides direct supervision of production team members, oversees staffing and workflow, monitors equipment performance, and maintains compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can motivate employees, drive results, and foster a positive team environment while achieving production goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily production activities to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Verify staffing levels and ensure all positions are filled prior to production start-up.
  • Lead pre-shift meetings, stretching exercises, and job rotations to support employee safety and ergonomic practices.
  • Monitor production processes to maximize productivity, quality, and yields while minimizing downtime and waste.
  • Ensure all equipment is operating efficiently and communicate maintenance needs as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with USDA, food safety, quality assurance, and company standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety through daily engagement, coaching, and participation in safety programs and meetings.
  • Monitor product coding, inventory rotation, and shipping accuracy to ensure customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
  • Train, coach, develop, and motivate team members to achieve operational and personal growth objectives.
  • Address employee concerns and provide ongoing feedback, counseling, and performance management as needed.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors and departments to resolve operational challenges and improve processes.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including documentation of reworked, returned, or non-conforming products.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement.
  • Communicate company policies, benefits, and expectations to team members.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Additional education, technical training, vocational certification, or college coursework preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Poultry or food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with SAP or similar production management systems is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Supervisory Responsibility

Directly supervises a team of production employees and is responsible for employee performance, training, development, attendance, and overall team effectiveness.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel required (approximately 1–5 trips per year).
