At 3:30 PM, you step onto the floor at Gardner Denver—part of Ingersoll Rand’s Industrial Technologies and Services business—where raw castings begin their transformation into world-class blowers and compressors. You’ll move components with a forklift or overhead crane, set up grinders to hold two-tenths (±0.0002 in) on diameters, and balance rotating assemblies both statically and dynamically. Between builds, you’ll interpret blueprints, follow torque specs, take precise measurements, and assemble to exact customer requirements using both standard and specialty tools.

As production flows, you’ll read CNC program code, make offsets, and perform light edits while watching machine behavior to ensure parts meet spec. You keep your area organized, flag quality issues and unsafe conditions, and ask the right questions to improve the process. You work with limited supervision, adapt to changing priorities, and deliver consistent, high-quality results.

What you’ll handle

Operate grinding equipment to hold ±0.0002 in on OD diameters

Balance rotating assemblies (static and dynamic) to specification

Use forklifts, overhead cranes, and walk-behind lifts safely

Assemble equipment per blueprints and customer specs; apply correct torque values

Measure, document, and verify dimensions; maintain clean work area Understand, edit, and offset CNC programs by reading code and observing machine performance

Identify quality defects and address unsafe conditions promptly

What you bring2+ years in machining; CNC experience preferred (strong manual experience considered)
Proven ability to hold tight tolerances, specifically ±0.0002 in on ground diameters

Comfort reading and interpreting mechanical drawings/blueprints

Capability to make CNC offsets and minor program edits

Hands-on with precision gauges: OD mics, snap gauges, height gauges, and similar tools

Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving approach

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs throughout the shift

Experience operating cranes and walk-behind lifts

High school diploma or GED preferred (not required)
Preferred proficiencies

Diagnosing equipment issues and mechanical troubleshooting

Material handling familiarityCNC setups and changeovers

Precision metrology and hand measurement expertise

Machine geometry and alignment fundamentals
