Statement of the Job: A Kitchen Manager oversees the convenience store and food operations of a truck stop according to company policies and procedures to ensure maximum sales and profitability. He/She supervises personnel within the store. Work closely with the General Manager to continually improve the food service department.
We pay managers hourly, so get paid for what you work, rather than those other companies that abuse and put you on salary.
- Oversee the successful operation of the Food Service.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities expected of any store associate and all other duties assigned or requested.
- Meet or exceed store guidelines, including inventory, cash shortages, and budgeted hours.
- Develop and maintain a time schedule to adequately cover staffing needs while ensuring maximum customer satisfaction and store cleanliness and remaining within budget guidelines.
- Perform all administrative duties accurately, completely, and in a timely manner, including required reports.
- Follow all corporate cash procedures and strictly enforce corporate cash policies in the store.
- Manage customer relations in an efficient and courteous manner to provide maximum customer satisfaction.
- Ensure overall store maintenance and immediately inform the general manager of all major equipment problems.
- Enforce all company policies and procedures within the store.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws on aspects of store operations.
- Ensure store safety.
- Maintain proper product stocking and ensure adequate store supplies at all times.
- Monitor facility gasoline inventories and properly report discrepancies.
- Interview, select, and hire store personnel using company-approved approaches and provide new employee training.
- Periodically conduct performance evaluations of employees.
- Provide counseling and/or discipline to store associates in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Terminate store associates as necessary in conformance with company policies and procedures.
- Attend all manager meetings and required training sessions, and conduct regular employee meetings.
- Openly communicate with management on important issues.
- Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
- Follow recipes and presentation specifications.
- Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Clean and maintain station in practice of good safety and sanitation.
- Assist with the cleaning and organization of kitchen and equipment.
- Restock items as needed throughout the shift.
- Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes.
Compensation & Benefits:
Starting pay is $16.00 to $18.00 an hour for a Manager depending upon experience. If you have advanced management experience, starting pay can be higher. Earn an additional $.50 per hour from midnight to 6 a.m. (see company policy upon accepting a position). Earn a performance review in as little as 90 days, with annual reviews thereafter. Health Insurance is available within 90 days of your starting date.

Physical Requirements
- Customer Service
- Run a cash register, including accountability for cash, lottery tickets, cash cards, etc.
- Complete shift report
- Cleaning (windows, floors, bathrooms, emptying trash containers, etc.)
- Stock shelves and coolers
- Sweep and mop floors
- Check product inbound from vendors
- Yard maintenance (sweeping, shoveling, painting, checking gas wells, etc.)
- Other tasks assigned by management
- Communicate with associates and guests
- Count, read, and write accurately to complete required paperwork
- Wear required store uniform
- Availability for weekend, evening shifts and holidays
- Must have reliable transportation
- Attend mandatory meetings (e.g., T.A.M., sexual harassment)
- Physical Requirements:
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting of 1 to 15 lbs
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion
- Reaching above shoulder height and bending below waist
- Be able to freely access all areas of the store
- Move quickly around store
