Performs maintenance and repairs within campus facilities and grounds to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the campus property. This position is a specialist with responsibilities to perform maintenance duties within the Facilities Engineering Department including, but not limited to building repairs, equipment repairs, grounds keeping, event setups, and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Performs general preventative maintenance duties of campus buildings and grounds
- Performs repairs to the interior and exterior of campus buildings
- Operates, adjusts, and repairs heating and cooling units
- Repairs, installs, and diagnoses electrical systems and subcomponents
- Repairs, installs, and diagnoses plumbing systems
- Drywall installation and repairs
- Light masonry and concrete install and repairs
- Performs carpentry, painting, welding, machining, and flooring installation duties
- Performs grounds keeping duties when assigned, to include mowing, edging grass, pruning trees, landscaping, applying chemicals and seeds, picking up debris and maintaining athletic fields
- Performs snow removal duties as assigned to include plowing, shoveling and spreading ice melt throughout campus
- Conduct furniture and fixture assemblies
- Conduct event setup and tear downs
- Inspect, maintain and operate machinery such as Backhoe, Skid Steer, Tractors, and Forklift. Internal qualification will be required within 3 months of hire
- Shipping and receiving duties when required to include bulk package deliveries throughout campus
- Proper knowledge and use of personal protective equipment
- Local travel to satellite campus facilities as directed
- Basic understanding of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) related to chemical use, storage, and disposal
- Willingness and ability to work as a team or independently
- Other duties as assigned. Weekend and overtime may be required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must obtain a Class E Driver’s License within 6 months of employment
- Must have knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds keeping
- Preferred experience in building maintenance, carpentry, landscaping, or related field
- Work involves moderate and sometimes vigorous physical activity. There is frequent walking, standing, and lifting required. There is an occasional need to lift objects (up to 80 lbs.) and perform other similar actions during the workday.

- OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification and OSHA Forklift operator’s license preferred but not required; training will be provided at no cost upon hire.
