Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator

GFL Environmental is seeking a Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate compactors, dozers, and loaders at our landfill facility. You will spread, compact, and cover waste according to site plans, maintain proper grades and slopes, and complete pre- and post-trip inspections. The role requires strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations, accurate daily documentation, and effective communication with the scale house and site supervisors.

You'll work outdoors in varying weather, support a clean, organized worksite, and contribute to sustainable waste management for the community.

Responsibilities

• Operate landfill compactors, dozers, and loaders to spread, compact, and cover waste safely and efficiently.
• Maintain proper grades, slopes, and working faces in accordance with site plans and supervisor instructions.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip equipment inspections and report or assist with basic maintenance needs.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including proper PPE use and traffic control.
• Communicate effectively with scale house, spotters, and supervisors via radio and in person.
• Complete required daily logs, load counts, and other operational documentation accurately.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions while maintaining a clean, organized and safe work area.
