Job Description
Position Details:
- Pay rate: $30.60 per hour
- Work schedule:
5 days per week (day shifts) - Local – home daily positions
- Sign‑on bonus: $10,000 (not available to those who have worked for a Performance Food Group owned company within the last 6 months)

This is an entry‑level driver training role. The driver learns and gains experience driving a tractor‑trailer or straight truck on intrastate and/or interstate routes, including local, over‑the‑toad (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes, to deliver and unload food and related products to customers. All routes must be completed safely in accordance with company policies and Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). The Driver Trainee communicates and interacts professionally with customers, vendors, and co‑workers, ensuring services are performed in accordance with company work methods and customer‑service practices.
The trainee is a team member within the department and organization and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.
- Attend and successfully complete the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program. Complete and maintain all required training documentation.
- Ride‑with and assist the driver trainer during deliveries, following all instructions.
- Perform required safety checks, including pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer per DOT regulations, and report safety issues or needed repairs.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe‑driving guidelines and policies. Immediately report any safety hazards.
- Inspect the trailer for proper loading and secure freight. Perform a count check, review customer invoices, and complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route schedule.
- Unload products, transport items to designated customer storage areas, perform damage‑control checks, scan, and contact the supervisor regarding removals per company policy. Verify delivery with the customer and obtain proper signatures. Collect payment where required. Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure the doors.
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured at all times.
- Unload damaged goods and returns, bring them to the driver check‑in, and complete necessary paperwork. Remove trash from trailers as required.
- Record hours of service daily and enter them into the log per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clean. At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 6+ months of commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL A.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
- Pass post‑offer drug test.
- Pass road test.
- Obtain or maintain a current DOT Health Card.
- Able to hand‑lift and use two‑wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move or stack product cases/freight ranging from approximately 60 to 90 pounds.
$30.60 per hour
