Position DescriptionPrincipal Engineers are renowned technical experts who solve the most complex engineering challenges, influence company-wide technical direction, and provide strategic leadership across programs. They break down large-scale problems into actionable work, mentor senior technical leaders, and drive major initiatives that elevate organizational capability.
Roles & Responsibilities- Serves as a recognized expert with exceptional technical knowledge and problem-solving capability
- Solves large-scale, complex engineering problems and decomposes them into actionable tasks for others
- Provides strategic technical guidance and influences company-wide engineering direction
- Demonstrates advanced skills across multiple engineering disciplines and leads cross-functional initiatives
- Sets technical standards within their specialty and provides advanced training to engineering teams
- Drives major improvement initiatives that significantly enhance organizational performance
- Leads complex, high-impact projects with organization-wide implications
- Communicates strategic technical direction and complex concepts to senior leadership and broad audiences
- Exhibits exceptional business acumen, ensuring alignment between technical strategy and business goals
- Provides strategic leadership, mentoring other leaders and shaping the organization’s technical vision
- Solves the most complex and strategic problems, shaping the company’s approach to innovation
- Demonstrates exceptional learning agility, mastering new domains and applying knowledge to drive success
- Leads major cross-functional efforts and drives initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction
- Mentors team members and emerging leaders, promoting skill development and knowledge transfer
- The Principal Engineer role includes multiple levels of competency, determined by performance, expertise, and organizational impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field required; advanced degree preferred
- Extensive experience solving complex, high-impact engineering problems
- Demonstrated mastery across multiple engineering disciplines
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering initiatives
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and guiding technical strategy
- Experience with CATIA, NX, or equivalent CAD software preferred
- Experience with composites, advanced manufacturing, or complex aerospace assemblies is ideal
- Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and require candidate to agree to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
Wage range for this role is between $160,000 - $215,000 per year plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
