Janicki Industries is an innovative, family‑owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for aerospace, defense, and space industries.

We are looking for a Process Engineer – Metallic Forming to join our growing team.

Location: On‑site Sedro‑Woolley, Washington State.

Position Description

Janicki Industries seeks a hands‑on Process Engineer to work with a variety of metallic materials and all associated processes, specializing in metal bending practices. The candidate will work in a shop environment and on the production floor, applying in‑depth knowledge of metal forming.

Essential functions:

  • Provide support throughout the full product life cycle from design to manufacturing and delivery.
  • Review and define metallic materials and process specifications and other engineering documents used to control design, certify and produce hardware.
  • Identify impacts of non‑conformances linked to metallic materials and processes, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
  • Conduct failure analysis to determine cause and corrective action.
  • Perform R&D testing as needed.
  • Lead evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to future projects.
  • Collaborate with multiple engineering teams.
  • Balance curvature accuracy vs residual stress and distortion.
  • Support execution during forming and fit‑up.
  • Develop plate‑forming plans for curved structures.
  • Define forming sequences and tolerances.
  • Provide lofting and forming data for plating and complex geometries.
  • Support thermal and mechanical forming processes including line heating and cold forming.
  • Coordinate forming and fit‑up activities with fabrication teams.
  • Maintain an overview of production processes and facilities, and work with management and production personnel to develop and implement improvements for optimal results.
  • Provide direction to new engineers on the production floor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work well under pressure, meeting multiple deadlines, and demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Maintain good attendance and arrive on time.
Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; a U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required (Janicki will assist with clearance).
  • Must be able to enter a Continuous Evaluation program as required by Special Access Program and other government access requirements.
Education / Experience
  • B.S. in Mechanical Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or a related field preferred; work experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum three years of experience with metal bending practices.
  • Ability to write work orders, operations sheets, instructions, and drawings.
Additional Information

Salary range is $83,000 – $145,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Additional pay may be provided for off‑shifts.
