Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Sedro-Woolley, WA!

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager reports to the VP of Manufacturing and leads engineering support for Sedron’s welded fabrication and manufacturing operations. This role carries accountability for welding code compliance, manufacturing process improvement, quality systems, and the development of a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Certified Welding Inspectors.

The Manager drives continuous improvement across fabrication and assembly processes, reducing defects, scrap, and cycle time while ensuring all processes consistently meet customer, safety, and regulatory requirements. This position plays a central role in new product introduction, capital equipment decisions, and building a culture of technical excellence and standardized work.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs) in support of welded fabrication, assembly, and production operations.
  • Drive compliance with applicable AWS welding codes, standards, and customer specifications across manufacturing processes and documentation.
  • Oversee development, qualification, and implementation of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs), Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), and welder/operator qualifications.
  • Partner cross‑functionally with operations, quality, design engineering, and supply chain to improve manufacturability, throughput, and on‑time delivery.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, cycle time, and welding defects.
  • Provide technical leadership in resolving complex welding and fabrication issues, including fit‑up, distortion, weld quality, and process variation.
  • Support new product introduction by reviewing designs for weldability, manufacturability, tooling needs, and code compliance.
  • Manage tooling, fixturing, capital equipment, and automation projects to improve process repeatability and production efficiency.
  • Establish, track, and report key manufacturing metrics such as first‑pass yield, labor efficiency, defect rates, and capacity performance.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes support required inspection methods, including visual inspection, dimensional verification, and NDT requirements where applicable.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to production, quality, and welding process issues.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, technical excellence, and standardized work throughout the manufacturing organization.
  • Directly supervises Manufacturing Engineers and Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs); scope includes Quality team support.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of direct reports.
  • Provides work direction, sets priorities, and evaluates team performance against operational and quality goals.
  • May participate in compensation recommendations and disciplinary actions.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related field
