TITLE: High School Physics Teacher
TYPE OF POSITION: Full time (1.0); school year; salary commensurate with experience and education, as set forth in the agreement between the Seekonk School Department and the Seekonk Educators Association
START DATE: August 25, 2026
LOCATION: Seekonk High School
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified candidates
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS- Licensed, or eligible for licensure in Physics (8-12) by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, preferred
- Valid license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Physics 8-12 is required
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, adults, parents, colleagues, and staff
- Commitment to remain current in content knowledge and teaching strategies
- Experience in teaching honors, Advanced Placement, or computer science courses is a plus
- Experience teaching Project Lead The Way is also preferred
- Ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents, and staff
- Planning and implementing standards-based lessons with clear objectives
- Designing and demonstrating differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students (modify, scaffold, etc. for Special Education and English Language Learners)
- Using a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward mastery of grade-level standards and to modify further instruction
- Providing a motivating, stimulating, safe, and supportive learning environment
- Adapting science lessons for individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students or subgroups of students
- Developing and maintaining pupil-teacher relationships conducive to effective teaching and learning, fostering a safe environment in which students can thrive
- Maintaining a growth mindset
- Demonstrating understanding of a variety of cultures, including their values, traditions, and communication styles, and incorporating that knowledge into instruction
- Establishing and maintaining standards and expectations of student behavior
- Participating in school-wide and department-wide professional development activities
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community, and collaborating with colleagues on curriculum, lesson planning, and assessment design
- Proficient use of instructional technology to support student learning in and out of the classroom
- Other duties, as assigned according to the SEA contract
