Position: Team Captain On Field Operations

Overview

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead execution across the sales floor, ensuring strong merchandising, pricing, and athlete experience.
  • Coach teammates, manage priorities, and deliver a consistent, athlete‑first shopping experience.
  • Attend to merchandising and presentation standards, including floor sets, signage, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment standards.
  • Promote and lead company programs such as the customer loyalty program, warranty sales, and private‑label credit‑card enrollment.
  • Collaborate with SM and ASM to develop 30‑60‑90 day plans supporting business priorities and operational goals.
  • Establish and execute operational initiatives, staffing, hiring needs, and merchandising sets in accordance with budgets and financial goals.
  • Adapt plans as needed, using independent judgment and analysis of effectiveness.
  • When sole leader, act as Head Coach, overseeing opening/closing procedures, front‑end and cash operations, teammate supervision, and general store oversight.
  • Communicate departmental goals and plans to direct reports, assign workload, and develop effective schedules to meet athlete traffic demands.
  • Build and lead a strong, effective team; manage hiring, onboarding, development, recognition, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, loss prevention, standard operating procedures, and applicable laws and guidelines.
  • Create an inclusive store environment where all teammates and athletes are welcome and treated with respect.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience.
  • Previous retail/customer‑facing experience required.
  • Previous people leadership experience preferred.
Compensation & Benefits

Targeted Pay Range: $49,500.00 – $63,500.00 based on a 38‑hour work week. Benefits include a competitive total rewards package with incentive, equity, and other components. DICK’S Sporting Goods complies with all state paid leave requirements. Further benefits information is available at
