PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of the classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Associate Degree

2 years of college (48 hrs) from an Institute of Higher Education

Or hold a Certificate of Qualification for Paraprofessionals

* Must apply for TEA Instructional Aide Certification

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work well with children

Ability to communicate with adults and children in both English and the Home Language

General knowledge of office equipment

Support Teaching and Learning

Effective use of de-escalation, behavior management, and child guidance techniques for students

with diverse learning and behavioral needs.

Understanding of instructional methods in core academic areas (math, reading, language, and Related subjects.

Awareness of safe classroom and playground practices and applicable health regulations.

Familiarity with district policies, rules, and procedures.

Abilities:

* Monitor and support student behavior in alignment with district policies.

Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.

* Manage sensitive or emotional situations with professionalism and confidentiality.

* Collaborate respectfully with all stakeholders in an inclusive and equitable manner.
