JOB TITLE: Instructional Coach WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Campus Principal PAY GRADE: Teacher Scale
DEPT/SCHOOL: Assigned Campus DAYS EMPLOYED: 187+ extra days

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provides support for the professional learning process and the goal of creating Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) on campus. The department lead & Instructional Coach is a facilitator of team planning, professional development, student success initiatives, and professional growth aligned to the Campus Improvement Plan. As an instructional coach, the Lead facilitates change in the instructional practices of teachers that will enable them to diagnose student needs more analytically, plan more productively, and teach more effectively.
The lead/instructional coach will also provide instructional modeling, and hands-on activities, both in small groups as well as with the entire staff, seeking to improve ELAR achievement for Seguin ISD students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field required
- Master's degree preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate required
- General knowledge of all secondary ELAR curriculum
- Specific and demonstrated knowledge of middle school ELAR TEKS and state assessments
- Demonstrated knowledge of middle school pedagogy and effective instruction
- Specific knowledge of curriculum design using the backward planning process
- General knowledge of serving special populations of learners
- Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish positive and productive professional relationships with co-workers, site principals, and district administrators
- Demonstrate organizational and technology skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- At least three years of successful ELAR teaching experience
- At least five years of successful ELAR teaching experience preferred
- Experience in the development, preparation, and presentation of professional development preferred
- ESL certification
