Job Overview
Lead Instructor for the after‑school JAAM program, Summer Season 2026‑2027. Under supervision of the Recreation Superintendent, responsible for day‑to‑day supervision, planning, and implementation of curriculum and program at assigned campus.
Responsibilities- Enforce policies and procedures.
- Supervise and account for arrival and departure of all participants daily.
- Ensure safety and welfare of children and staff.
- Oversee daily operation of after‑school program, building family, community and school relations.
- Maintain order and discipline using behavior management policies.
- Administrative duties: manage payments, receipts, monthly bank drops, registration forms, inventory, attendance, staff timesheets, Camp Spring Break paperwork, weekly activity plans, and other required correspondences.
- Plan, supervise, and implement age‑appropriate curriculum.
- Set up activity areas and ensure secure storage of equipment.
- Provide direction and guidance to staff, aid in staff training, conduct staff meetings, and provide written evaluations.
- Participate in staff development training, community functions related to after‑school program.
- Submit inventory sheets and orders for equipment and supplies.
- Pickup supplies from Parks and Recreation Office as scheduled.
- Inform Recreation Superintendent of any problems or concerns.
- Other duties as directed by Recreation Superintendent.
- Minimum 18 years old, experience working with school‑age children.
- Curriculum delivery and/or program facilitation experience.
- Ability to work effectively with co‑workers and Recreation Superintendent.
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff and children.
- Exhibit maturity and sound judgment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus at least two (2) years working with school‑aged children.
- Lift and maneuver up to 25 lbs (paper, arts & crafts supplies, game implements).
- Work indoors and outdoors, sit, stand, bend, walk, and participate in activities that may involve running and walking.
- Establish relationships, give and follow instructions, work independently, assess situations, solve problems, prioritize tasks, communicate professionally, exercise discretion, mediate difficult situations, understand and follow written and oral instructions, complete written reports.
- State of Texas class C driver’s license.
- Community First Aid, Safety/CPR, AED within 60 days of employment.
Starting Salary: $14.00 per hour
Position will remain open until filled.
