What We Are Looking For

GVEC is looking to hire an Interconnection Support Specialist to support the transition to renewable energy by assisting with the administrative and technical processing of local power generation projects The Interconnection Support Specialist role focuses on accuracy, regulatory compliance, and member service while providing hands-on exposure to how a cooperative manages distributed energy resources (DERs). As an Interconnection Support Specialist, you will play a key role in managing the project "pipeline" for residential renewable energy applications, primarily battery storage systems, while collaborating with internal teams, member-consumers, and contractors.

Your Pay

The pay for this role is $20.00/hr plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications, and experience.

How You'll Help
  • Perform initial intake and review of interconnection applications for residential distributed energy resources (DERs), with a primary focus on battery storage systems
  • Verify application completeness, technical specifications, and member account information to ensure compliance with cooperative requirements
  • Track projects through all stages of the interconnection process, including engineering review, inspection, and Permission to Operate (PTO)
  • Maintain accurate, real-time updates within project tracking databases and internal systems
  • Review technical documentation, including line diagrams, to ensure alignment with submitted interconnection agreements
  • Serve as a liaison between member-consumers, solar contractors, and internal departments such as Engineering, Power Supply, and Billing
  • Assist in resolving application discrepancies, documentation issues, and minor technical bottlenecks
  • Prepare and support weekly status reports related to interconnection volume, progress, and common processing trends
  • Help identify recurring application issues or errors to support continuous improvement and departmental efficiency
Experience/Skills You'll Need
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors in technical data, account numbers, and documentation
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain utility processes to non-technical members and contractors
  • Ability to manage data entry, process tracking, and workflow updates accurately and efficiently
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
  • Self-motivated individual able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • Work in extreme outdoor temperatures as needed
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
Preferred Experience /Skills
  • Basic understanding of renewable energy systems, battery storage, or distributed generation concepts
  • Experience with data entry, reporting, or administrative support in a technical or operational environment
  • Interest in utility operations, renewable energy, engineering, or grid management
