What We Are Looking For

GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Infrastructure Engineer to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department, and our organization. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain the server, virtualization, and storage systems our organization runs on — increasingly through automation and scripting rather than manual, one‑off work. The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for a variety of infrastructure systems and services supporting both of GVEC’s data centers.

The Infrastructure Engineer is required to provide problem analysis, project planning and coordination, infrastructure support, vendor management and customer support to our internal users. You should possess a strong knowledge of virtualization, Windows/Linux server administration, and scripting or automation tooling.

Your Pay

The minimum starting pay for this role is $104,000 per year plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications and experience.

How You'll Help
  • Deliver best-in-class customer service to ensure that our people and solutions can move swiftly to deliver the unexpected
  • Design, deploy, and maintain server, virtualization (VMware), and storage infrastructure across both of GVEC’s data centers
  • Build and maintain automation and scripting (Power Shell, Ansible, or similar) to provision, configure, and remediate infrastructure systems, reducing manual administration wherever possible
  • Design, implement, and document disaster recovery procedures for assigned systems to ensure recovery within approved time frames, including coordinating and supporting disaster recovery testing across GVEC’s two active data centers
  • Support and maintain production servers (Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022) and Linux systems, both physical and virtual
  • Develop monitoring and alerting automation (e.g., CheckMK) to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues before they impact users
  • Assist with the development of standards, policies and procedures to ensure infrastructure reliability and security
  • Partner with the Network and Applications teams on integrated infrastructure projects and initiatives
  • Configure and maintain block storage (RAID, iSCSI), LUN provisioning, and storage replication (Pure Storage Active Cluster or similar) across both data centers, balancing capacity, performance and cost
  • Use ITSM tooling (Fresh service/Jira Service Management) to manage incidents, requests, and change records
  • Perform off‑hours scheduled maintenance
  • Participate in the on‑call rotation
  • Provide support to 24/7 business for mission critical systems
  • Share technical expertise by providing cross‑training to other peers
  • Participate in Helpdesk level 2 support
  • Provide support for other projects and duties as assigned
  • Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of technical issues, from frontline helpdesk requests to complex infrastructure and automation challenges.
Experience/Skills You’ll Need
  • Advanced knowledge of server virtualization platforms, preferably VMware
  • Experience with Active Directory and Directory sync configurations
  • Strong scripting/automation skills (Power Shell, Python, Ansible, or similar) to provision and maintain infrastructure at scale
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of Linux server administration
  • Knowledge of basic networking, including Layer 3 connectivity and port‑level security, to work with the security team to harden assigned systems
  • Experience with storage platforms, backup and disaster recovery tools (e.g., Pure Storage, Veeam), and storage/file server technologies and protocols, including RAID, iSCSI, SAN/NAS, NFS, and SMB
  • Working knowledge of server hardware configurations, including component‑level installation, firmware/BIOS management, and hardware troubleshooting
  • Ability to perform physical installation of server and storage hardware, including rack‑and‑stack work,…
