Job SummaryThe Industrial Power Systems Division has an exciting opportunity for a Repair Technician III in Seguin, TX. In this role, you will perform repairs on Caterpillar diesel engines, assist in determining a cause area, and report information to the appropriate departments. You will at times perform non‑routine and specialized tests on specific applications. You will be assigned to the Quality Planning Department.
WhatYou Will Do
- Perform testing and repairs on diesel engines and generator sets to eliminate quality and material defects
- Identify and document key metrics related to the assigned department or function
- Collaborate with function owners to troubleshoot critical issues
- Understand and interpret engineering prints
- Understand and apply GD&T principles and gauging techniques
- Run/coordinate design of experiments for critical internal issues
- Support Manufacturing Engineering to improve Cpk and Ppk
- Perform root cause corrective actions to improve stop capability
- Report on key metrics and improvements
- Lead a small business team
- Perform salvage recovery on engine and engine components
- Review engine performance data to aid root cause analysis
- Troubleshoot and repair detailed electrical components
- Submit and assist with the resolution of CPS Continuous Improvement cards
- Follow standard operating procedures and area specific work instructions
- Be self‑motivated, work independently when required
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working on engines and/or generator, or mechanical repair
- Advanced experience with tools and equipment used for engine repair such as wrenches, torque tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Advanced understanding of engine components such as pistons, cooling systems, and basic repairs such as oil changes and filter replacements
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
- Strong customer service, communication, and multi‑tasking skills
- Ability to effectively document and present findings to key stakeholders
- Ability to provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members
- Initiative and ability to resolve issues independently or through appropriate team guidance
- Previous experience in diesel engine maintenance and diagnostics
- Previous experience with advanced engine failure analysis
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive operationsio
