WASTEWATER TREATMENT OPERATOR I-IV

The Wastewater Operator I position is a progressive experience position responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and operating grounds / equipment, recording data, collecting samples, and system process control, in compliance with regulatory agency guidelines.

• Analyzes and monitors Wastewater treatment system processes, and identifies and implements simple process adjustments to ensure optimum performance of plant.
• Operates and maintains process equipment including but not limited to, preventative maintenance, repair, grounds keeping and general housekeeping.
• Checks engines, generators, pumps, settling tanks, filters, chemical feed systems, and other equipment.
• Records readings, changes charts, regulates and adjusts processes to meet changing operational needs.
• Collects, preserves, and properly stores samples for laboratory analysis.
• Monitors and performs housekeeping duties to insure a safe working environment.
• Performs basic process control measurements.
• Lubricates, dismantles, and assembles parts and equipment.
• Participates in the troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of a variety of equipment including pumps, piping and valves.
• Performs basic mathematical calculations.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and public relations.
• Participates in various special projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of and ability to: handle dangerous chemicals, such as chlorine and sulfur dioxide.
• Demonstrated ability to: lift and maneuver up to 60 lbs.; frequently walk, climb, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and work overhead in confined spaces, and in an environment with excessive noise levels.
• Ability to: work rotating shifts; understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions; work under general supervision; understand technical information; perform basic mathematical calculations; operate, maintain, and repair specialized equipment; and maintain appropriate occupational licenses, Texas driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, and ability to lawfully respond to an emergency from residence within 30 minutes.

• High school graduation, or its equivalent; one year of experience in Wastewater treatment operations preferred.

• Must be able to obtain a Wastewater Treatment Operator "D" license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within one year of employment and a Wastewater Treatment Operator "C" license prior to the expiration of the "D" license and a State of Texas Class C driver's license.
• State of Texas Class B (commercial) driver's license is preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Cardio Pulmonary Certification.

• Starting Salary:
  • Operator I U4- $20.29/hr.
  • Operator II U7- $23.49/hr.
  • Operator III U9- $25.89/hr.
  • Operator IV U11- $28.54/hr.
• Position will remain open until filled
