Crisis Clinician – Diversion Center

Program Overview

Diversion Center provides 24/7 access to immediate crisis assessment and intervention services in a facility-based setting. Primary referral sources include local law enforcement, emergency departments, and behavioral health first responders. The center operates under the Bluebonnet Trails model, recognized in best‑practice publications. The interdisciplinary team supports adults in crisis through evaluation, medication management, safety planning, and care coordination.

The Crisis Clinician delivers clinical care to individuals on the unit, including intake, assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning, and safety planning. The role collaborates with the interdisciplinary team and contractors to maintain essential operations, especially during emergencies and disasters. Cross‑training with other crisis programs such as the Crisis Respite Unit, Mobile and Youth Crisis Outreach Team, and Youth Therapeutic Respite is required.

• Engage in de‑escalation and crisis intervention with empathy.
• Provide person‑centered services aligned with the Center’s mission and values.
• Build relationships with colleagues, collaborating across programs and seeking and offering input toward shared goals and objectives.
• Provide individual and group services within the residential program.
• Complete all required unit and agency training, maintaining awareness of best practices and program policy.

• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with comprehensive knowledge of mental health diagnoses.
• Minimum of two years of case management experience.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with continued approved status throughout employment.
• If the degree is not in a human services field, a minimum of 24 college credits in that field is required.

• Master’s degree.
• Pursuing clinical licensure in counseling, applied behavior analysis, family therapy, social work, or a related field.
• Licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC).
• Bilingual in ASL or Spanish.
• Experience in providing concurrent documentation.

Hourly rate: $24.23 – $32.48. Salary ranges annually from $50,398.00 to $67,558.40, not including shift differentials.

• Shift Differentials:
  • Evening – $2.00/hour
  • Overnight – $4.00/hour
  • Weekend – $4.00/hour
  • Weekend Overnight – $6.00/hour
  • On‑Call per shift (Crisis/Jail Diversion) – $30/day
  • On‑Call hourly differential (Crisis/Jail Diversion) – $1.75/hour
• Differential Detail:
  • $1.00/hour – 2 years previous experience in a similar position
  • $1.00/hour – Advanced or Associate Licensure
  • $0.75/hour – Bilingual/ASL
  • $0.50/hour – LCDC Licensure
  • Up to $4.00/hour – BTCS Tenure
