About

The Role

The Service Coordinator ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) plays a pivotal role in supporting young children with developmental delays or disabilities and their families by coordinating comprehensive early intervention services. This position ensures that families receive timely access to appropriate resources, therapies, and support systems tailored to their unique needs. The coordinator acts as a liaison between families, service providers, and community agencies to facilitate effective communication and service delivery.

By managing individualized service plans and monitoring progress, the Service Coordinator helps promote optimal developmental outcomes for children. Ultimately, this role contributes to empowering families and enhancing the quality of life for children during critical early stages of development.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, nursing, or a related human services field.
  • Experience working with young children and families, preferably in early intervention or special education settings.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and developmental disabilities.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and coordinate services effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification or training specific to Early Childhood Intervention programs.
  • Experience with state and federal regulations related to early intervention services.
  • Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
  • Proficiency with case management software and electronic health records.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to identify the needs of children and their families within the ECI program.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized family service plans (IFSPs) in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinate and schedule services with therapists, educators, healthcare providers, and community resources to ensure seamless delivery of care.
  • Provide families with information, support, and advocacy to navigate available services and resources effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of service coordination activities, progress notes, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Facilitate communication among all stakeholders to resolve issues and promote collaborative problem-solving.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood intervention.

The Service Coordinator utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to build trusting relationships with families and service providers, ensuring clear and compassionate dialogue. Organizational skills are essential for managing multiple cases, scheduling services, and maintaining detailed documentation to comply with regulatory requirements. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills enable the coordinator to address challenges proactively and adapt service plans to meet evolving family needs.

Knowledge of early childhood development and intervention strategies guides the coordinator in making informed decisions and advocating effectively for children’s best interests. Additionally, proficiency with technology supports efficient case management and data tracking, enhancing overall service coordination and reporting.
