Position Information:
TxDOT’s San Antonio District is seeking a dedicated and motivated Maintenance Section Supervisor II for our Seguin Maintenance Office. The Seguin Maintenance Office oversees highway maintenance for over nine hundred lane-miles of roadway in Guadalupe County, including Farm-to-Market, State, US, and Interstate Highways including IH 10. In this role, you will oversee maintenance office operations including both in-house and contracted maintenance work as well as emergency response.
You will also play a key role in budget management and planning for roadway and bridge maintenance. Located east of San Antonio, Guadalupe County and Seguin are rapidly growing and developing. - Administer and inspect contracted maintenance activities.
- Inspect road conditions, work‑in‑progress and work completed by the crews and contractors.
- Plan, coordinate and implement emergency response to inclement weather, flooding, accidents and hazardous material spills affecting area roadways.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate work project needs to include personnel, equipment and material with the Area Engineer and other district staff on a regular basis.
- Prepare and monitor the budget.
- Prioritize and assign projects to the maintenance section assistant and crew chiefs; guide them in the planning and scheduling of personnel/materials/equipment necessary to complete the work; ensure projects follow established safety guidelines.
- Oversee the maintenance section office activities including human resources, public relations, facilities, inventory management and general office administrative matters.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of light and heavy equipment.
- Train other employees.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
Education:
High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies.
Experience:
8 years roadway maintenance or construction‑related work. (Experience can be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year‑per‑year basis.
Must have 3 years supervisory/managerial experience. Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience.
Licenses and Certifications- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Must have a Class “A” Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or have obtained a Class “A” CDL from date of application.
- Methods, procedures, equipment, and materials used in intermodal transportation engineering construction and maintenance work.
- Materials used in highway/bridge construction and maintenance.
- Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes.
- Applicable plans, specifications and estimates preparation, review, processing and compliance requirements.
- The Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
