Primary
Purpose:
Develop and provide instruction to new and existing personnel in the operation of district vehicles, including class B commercial driver’s license training. Maintain transportation specific technology hardware and software.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate, Preferred
- Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License (Class
B) With “S” and “P” endorsements - Valid School Bus Certification Card
- Valid Department of Transportation DOT Physical Certification
- Acceptable driving record as determined by the Department of Public Safety, Department of Transportation, and Texas Education Agency
- Completion of driver trainer program through an approved provider
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Ability to communicate professionally with parents, students, and staff in English
- Experience with Google Suite applications
- Ability to learn transportation specific software
Experience:
- Two years experience as a licensed and certified school bus driver

Equipment UsedTwo-way radios, fire extinguisher, wheelchair lift and securement equipment, First-Aid kit, Body Fluid Clean-up kit, computer, camera software, hand tools, and bus routing tablet.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsExtensive sitting, moderate walking, standing, exposure to exhaust fumes, and fuel. Moderate squatting and bending. Climbing bus steps. Exposure to seasonal temperatures.
