Suffolk County Community College is the largest community college in the State University of New York (SUNY) system, enrolling more than 26,000 students at its three campuses in Selden, Brentwood, and Riverhead, as well as its Culinary Arts Center in Riverhead. Announcement is hereby made for a full-time (12-month), Specialist, Data Analyst position for the Spring 2027 semester in the Office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness located on the Ammerman Campus in Selden.

This position will support the Vice President for Planning and Institutional Effectiveness and is a direct report to the Associate Director for Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness and will provide support in the areas of institutional research, data analysis, and institutional effectiveness. This position will collaborate with a team of professionals to gather, analyze, distribute and communicate institutional data in a timely manner to assist the college in making data-informed decisions.

This role is a key member of the college’s institutional research team, providing expertise in support of data-driven planning, assessment, and strategic decision-making.

The Data Analyst will contribute to the development and maintenance of analytical tools and reports that inform institutional effectiveness, enrollment management, and student success initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to prioritize their workload, have experience using SQL to extract data from Banner/ODS and utilize SPSS to conduct data analysis, and create dashboards. In addition, the candidate will understand the importance of institutional assessment and demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College collective bargaining agreement with the college. Job Responsibilities:
  • Extracts, cleans, and prepares data using programming language such as SQL and SPSS.
  • Conducts advanced statistical analyses and predictive modeling to support strategic enrollment forecasting, resource allocation, student success initiatives, etc.
  • Collaborates with the Vice President to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights tailored for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Responds to ad hoc data requests from internal and external stakeholders with accurate, timely, and clearly presented information.
  • Develops, maintains, and automates data reports, dashboards, and visualizations to track institutional key performance indicators and support planning, program review, and accreditation activities.
