Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the school.
Program Operation- Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
- Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
- Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
- Submits requested information within established timelines.
- Is available to students outside of scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.
- Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.
- Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).
- Uses technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.
- In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.
- Promote same as an integral part of one's work.
- Possesses an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or a related field appropriate to the program, AND Current or expired professional state teaching license/certification and At least three years of K-12 teaching experience.
- Other requirements for Science of Reading classes: MSJ Science of Reading Training Microcredential for Ivy Tech faculty OR Complete Cox Campus Structured Literacy Series Modules and complete the Cox Campus final Structured Literacy Exam Certificate OR Successful KPEERI Exam Completion OR Successful completion of Keys to Literacy (80 hours) OR Successful completion of Praxis #5205 OR Indiana Literacy Endorsement (added to teaching license) OR Upon Curriculum Committee review, equivalent or higher credential in Science of Reading, preferably from an IDA accredited institution, i.e,
Mt. St. Joseph or Marian University certificate, masters, doctorate, etc.
Spring semester, daytime hours, on campus with weekly asynchronous delivery
