Job Summary:

Provides library resources and assists in their proper use.

Typical Duties:

• Operates and supervises libraries and provides assistance to users as necessary.
• Conforms to performance standards of the school system; maintains current and accurate records and prepares required reports.
• Organizes the library for effective use by providing maximum access to library collections.
• Participates in the instructional program of the school.
• Provides an instructional program in library skills appropriate to student abilities, needs, and curricular requirements.
• Directs the selection, cataloging and classifying, processing, and circulating of material in the library.
• Develops a media center which provides print and non-print materials.
• Encourages students to read and maintains knowledge of their reading abilities.
• Displays personal conduct which sets an example for students to emulate.
• Plans library schedule with administrator and teachers and implements the schedule on a daily basis.
• Maintains current file of state and local regulations regarding the operation of school libraries.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Library Science (Master's Degree preferred).
