Job Description
As an EHS Specialist, you will oversee the environmental, health and safety programs for plant employees, analyze trends, and provide guidance. You will offer technical advice and leadership in implementing environmental, health, safety, sustainability, and ergonomic solutions to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with environmental regulations. Additionally, you will actively manage and implement employee engagement initiatives, continuous improvement processes, and adherence to safe, efficient, and regulatory‑compliant practices.
Responsibilities- Conduct audits, inspections, and updates for all environmental, health and safety programs.
- Maintain up‑to‑date environmental permits, data, and submit reports to authorities.
- Lead emergency response activities as required.
- Perform daily walk‑throughs of production and logistics areas for hazards.
- Lead and attend safety committee meetings and daily production/plant manager meetings.
- Ensure incident reporting as per procedures.
- Assist with Work Comp claims/questions.
- Respond to requests from plant manager and department leaders.
- Establish and implement ISO 14001 / 45001 and maintain certification.
- Conduct safety and ergonomic risk assessments for compliance and risk control.
- Lead sustainability projects to reduce energy consumption, waste generation, and increase recycling. Monitor energy, waste, and water data and provide information to Corporate EHS.
- Lead ergonomic evaluations of manufacturing tasks and participate in Kaizen Projects. Provide training support for safety committee, continuous improvement, engineering, and production.
- B.S. Degree (Environmental, Chemical, Safety, or Ergonomic Engineering);
Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing field. - Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel to training, conferences, and plant support as required 20%.
