Description:

Improves patient’s nutritional status, determines needs within meal plan restrictions to see that adequate intake is achieved during diseased state, according to age and infirmity. Consults with physicians and other health care personnel, clients, and family members to achieve adequate nutrition and promote patient healing. Provide diet and or meal planning counseling to continue nutritional care after discharge. Act as an educational resource for current accepted nutritional information and therapies.

• Implements and coordinates nutrition care to improve patient’s nutritional status and ensure adequate intake aligned with disease state, age, and infirmity.
• Consults with physicians, other health care personnel, clients, and family members to promote nutrition and support patient healing.
• Provides diet and meal planning counseling to continue nutritional care after discharge.
• Acts as an educational resource for current accepted nutritional information and therapies.

• Education:
  
  Must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Human Environmental Sciences or Dietetic Sciences. Must be registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• Experience:
  
  Must have a minimum of two years experience in clinical nutrition, preferably in acute hospital setting.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, walk at least 8 hours per day, lift/carry 20 pounds, hear alarms and telephone rings, distinguish colors, perform repetitive tasks/motions, have good eye/hand/foot coordination, and have clear vision at 20 or more feet with vision corrective device.
