Job SummaryThe Physical Therapist evaluates, plans, and implements medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs for patients to relieve pain, improve mobility, and restore or maintain physical function. Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Supervises physical therapy assistants, aides, and students.
Essential Functions- Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ physical abilities and needs
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings, in collaboration with the patient and care team
- Administer therapeutic interventions including manual therapy, modalities, exercise programs, and patient education
- Utilize physical agents and equipment such as moist heat, ultrasound, TENS, infrared lamps, etc.
- Evaluate, fit, and adjust orthotic and prosthetic devices; make recommendations as needed
- Reassess patient progress, modify treatment goals as appropriate, and document progress
- Provide education to patients and caregivers about therapeutic goals, injury prevention, and recovery techniques
- Direct, supervise, and mentor physical therapist assistants, aides, and students
- Ensure safe, sanitary, and effective use of therapy space and equipment
- Participate in departmental initiatives, staff meetings, and quality improvement projects
- Thorough knowledge of physical therapy principles, techniques, and evidence-based practice
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing clinical demands
- Competency in electronic documentation systems
- Commitment to ethical practice and professional development
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, and lifting
- Ability to assist with patient transfers and lift up to 50 pounds
- Requires visual and auditory acuity sufficient to monitor patient conditions and interact effectively
- Clinical, inpatient, and outpatient healthcare settings
- Occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens and other healthcare-related hazards
- Requires compliance with infection control and safety guidelines
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred
- Current state license to practice as a Physical Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
- One year of experience in an acute care, rehabilitation, or outpatient setting preferred
- Must demonstrate strong clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and independent decision-making skills
