Job Duties
  • Operate production equipment under the supervision of the shift supervisor.
  • Package and monitor product volume, temperatures, times, and pressure readings; monitor gauges and record data.
  • Understand product type, source, handling procedures, and product flow.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area and general housekeeping.
  • Receive product; start, run, shut down, and clean dryer/evaporator and associated equipment.
  • Collect hourly production readings, color, moisture, and temperature; monitor bag house and air pressure; notify supervisor of out-of-spec items.
  • Document charts and paperwork correctly and completely per company and regulatory regulations.
  • Operate pallet jack and forklift.
  • Prepare bags according to label and numbering system; print packaging labels using proficient computer skills.
  • Fill, weigh, seal, and load bags on pallets; able to lift 60lb bags up to 6ft high.
  • Bag, blend, weigh, sample finished powder; palletize and move pallets (may use forklift or pallet jack).
  • Comply with company food safety, quality policies, SOPs, procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Perform elementary mechanical and carpentry repairs as instructed by supervision.
  • Engage in continuous improvement and process improvement.
  • Anticipate problems and implement solutions.
  • Protect customer, company, vendor, and employee information with good judgment.
  • Assume responsibility for plant goals and objectives.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships and communications with employees of all departments and peers.
Job Requirements
  • Ability to prepare and operate all packaging machinery.
  • General knowledge of production/manufacturing methods.
  • Ability to read gauges and record data legibly per procedures.
  • Ability to handle inedible protein materials following sanitary procedures.
  • Ability to follow established work procedures, including mandated sanitary and safety guidelines.
  • English proficiency (read, write, speak) to prepare logs, schedules, and communicate with employees.
  • Ability to operate forklift/pallet jack.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to move freely throughout plant with sustained physical/mental effort to climb, sample, and clean equipment and areas.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods.
  • Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions and notify appropriate staff; handle problems beyond normal scope.
  • Ability to cooperate with all staff.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work daily and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to assist in all work areas; take on additional responsibilities.
  • Willingness to work with others, collaborate, compromise, share information timely, and adapt to changing situations.
  • Able and willing to perform tasks independently.
  • Positive, professional attitude and work ethic.
  • Follow all GMPs; work consistently with corporate, regulatory, food, safety, quality, sanitation requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand continuously, sit occasionally, walk frequently, bend/crouch/stend frequently.
  • Reach above shoulder frequently, climb stairs/ladders frequently.
  • Lift weights up to 80lb at waist level, 60lb at floor level, 50lb at shoulder level frequently.
  • Use hand movements for recording data frequently; operate office equipment occasionally.
  • Operate forklifts or pallet jacks as required.
  • Maintain good vision, hearing, and mobility throughout work area.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience:

    Previous work experience in agriculture, production, or manufacturing preferred.
