The Harvest Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of a single‑shift beef harvest process, including budgets, animal welfare, HACCP, SSOP, GMP, QSA, BRC, production yields (carcass & offal), staffing, and employee safety. The Harvest Manager leads a team that consists of three supervisors and approximately 140 employees. The Harvest Manager reports to the Director of Operations daily and participates in weekly production meetings, maintains an active rapport with USDA inspectors, and implements a proactive approach to regulatory issues.
The Harvest Manager is responsible for enhancing KPIs, setting goals, and delegating responsibility to appropriate personnel.
- Manage day‑to‑day harvest floor operations to assure process productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor and oversee the harvest process to assure supervision implements company policies and maintains a safe, efficient work environment.
- Comprehend and implement all aspects of the union contract.
- Provide feedback to Maintenance and Engineering regarding equipment condition.
- Monitor yields (carcass & offal) and oversee adherence to production standards.
- Manage employee training, pay schedules and discipline.
- Implement the department budget and identify cost‑saving strategies.
- Assure implementation of the company’s HACCP, SSOP, GMP, BRC, animal welfare and QSA programs.
- Minimum of five (5) years management/supervision experience in beef harvest (hide‑on & hide‑off) and all appropriate equipment.
- Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of process improvements and technical developments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Provides guidance and direction to staff to assure understanding, training, and implementation of company policies.
- Highly motivated.
- Demonstrates personal accountability.
- Sets team performance standards, providing coaching and feedback to build effective staff.
