The Licensed Practical Nurse assumes principal responsibility for the total care of assigned clients in the respective unit. The nurse is responsible for assessment, reassessment, and evaluation of care. The nurse initiates healthcare training and education for the client/family as required while supporting and fostering the goals of Vaughan Regional Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. The position is accountable for supervising non‑licensed personnel in assigned units and requires flexibility in scheduling, including all shift patterns, weekends, and holidays to ensure continuity of care.

The Licensed Practical Nurse must provide care to all patient populations with consideration to age specificity and diagnosis.

• Education:
  
  Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Alabama, BCLS certification required.
• Experience:
  
  Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting or pediatrics nursing preferred. Must successfully complete orientation checklist, pharmacology exam, and unit‑specific competencies for the identified age groups.
• Skills:
  
  Ability to function in stressful situations, verbal presentation of nursing theory and practice, acceptance of responsibility and accountability, and implementation of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) appropriate to the patient population.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, walk at least 6 hours per day, lift/carry 50 pounds, hear alarms and telephone rings, distinguish colors, perform repetitive tasks/motions, have good eye/hand/foot coordination, and have clear vision at 20 or more feet with or without a vision corrective device.
