DescriptionThe registered nurse assumes principal responsibility for total care of assigned clients in the unit. This nurse is responsible for assessment, reassessment, establishment of nursing diagnoses, formulation of the written plan of care, implementation of care, and evaluation of care. The nurse initiates training and education to the client/family as required while supporting the goals of Vaughan Regional Medical Center and the Department of Nursing.
The RN demonstrates awareness of unit needs and provides leadership to other team members in maintaining optimal standards of nursing care. The position is accountable for supervising other licensed and nonlicensed nursing personnel for assigned units. This role requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns, including weekends and holidays, to ensure continuity of care and appropriate coverage for patients on all units.
The RN is responsible for caring for all patient populations with consideration to age-specificity and diagnosis.
Flexible Solutions position offers a premium rate for experienced RNs. RNs that complete the 13‑week agreement will be eligible for a Completion Bonus. There are 2 options:
Option 1: A flat rate of $40.00/hour; no shift differential; nurse must work two 12‑hour shifts per week for 13 weeks; upon completion, the RN will be eligible for a $1,000 completion bonus pending satisfactory evaluation based on patient satisfaction, attendance, and overall performance.
Option 2: A flat rate of $45.00/hour; no shift differential; nurse must work three 12‑hour shifts per week for 13 weeks; upon completion, the RN will be eligible for a $1,000 completion bonus pending satisfactory evaluation based on patient satisfaction, attendance, and overall performance.
When work hours exceed 40 hours per week, overtime payment rules apply. Any overtime shifts over the regularly scheduled hours must be approved in advance by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
QualificationsEducation: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Alabama. BLS required. ACLS required (new employees have 90 days from hire date to complete).
Experience: Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred. Requirements include successful completion of orientation checklist and skills/credentials/competency requirements of the specific unit for identified age groups of patients.
Skills: Required ability to function in stressful situations. Verbal ability to present information and ideas related to nursing theory and practice. Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to provide, delegate, and coordinate nursing care on assigned units, with leadership qualities. The position requires cognitive and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned, considering client age and diagnosis with full implementation of the nursing process to include assessment/reassessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk frequently, perform repetitive tasks/motions. Good manual dexterity, ability to distinguish colors, and good eye/hand/foot coordination. Ability to lift 20lbs, do constant bending and squatting. Be able to hear alarms and telephone rings and have clear vision at 20 or more feet with or without vision corrective devices.
