Maintenance Journeyman Level 1 (Electrical/Instrumentation) Job Description

Position Title:

Maintenance Journeyman Level 1 Electrical/Instrumentation (J1)

Pay Rate: $3 9.53/ hr

Physical Location: 601 County Road 78

Category/Shift: Hourly Full-Time;
Days ( 7 am- 3 :30pm – Monday
- Friday )

At least 18 years of age

Minimum high school graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience

Eligible for employment in the US

AND one of the following:

• At least three (3) years of work experience in INSTRUMENTATION systems;
• At least three (3) years of work experience in ELECTRICAL systems

Must be willing to meet the following requirements:

• Work in industrial conditions (may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery, elevated working surfaces, and confined spaces with proper safety training and safety protection)
• Undergo technical online testing, interview, and a formal hands‑on assessment of skills
• Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment
• Undergo a job‑related health assessment as a condition of employment
• Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment
• Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
• Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
• Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis
• Wear required safety equipment

This position will assist journeymen‑level Electrical/Instrumentation maintenance technicians in routine maintenance work as well as performing many duties independently. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Instrumentation:
  • Troubleshoot, configure, maintain PLC systems
  • Single loop controls for various field systems
  • Installation, calibration, troubleshooting various manufacturers of analog and SMART instruments and analytical equipment
  • Shop and field repair of final control elements such as pneumatic valves, electric valves, solenoid operated valves, calibration of pneumatic and SMART valve positioners
  • Routine and regulatory calibration of field instruments for boilers and environmental systems
  • Troubleshoot, maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Read and redline loop sheets, P&IDs
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams & electrical schematics
  • Understand and follow NFPA
    70E regulations involving Arc Flash and Shock hazards
  • Other duties as assigned
• Troubleshoot, install, repair AC and DC drive systems as well as stand‑alone process drives of various manufacturers
• Troubleshoot, install, maintain various electrical components such as mechanical limit, proximity, photoelectric, speed and reflective switches
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on 480v thru 13.8kv power distribution switch gear
• Understand and follow NFPA
  70E regulations involving Arc Flash and Shock hazards
• Other duties as assigned
