Position:
Director of Career Technical Educational Programs (CTE)
Job Goal:
Provide leadership and assistance in executing all CTE programs in the Selma City Schools System
Reports To:
Superintendent
Qualifications:
1) Valid Alabama teacher's certificate with a Master's Degree or above.
2) Certification in School Administration/ Educational Leadership.
3) Work experience in business industry preferred.
4) Completed three (3) years of recent successful full time teaching experience in Career and Technical Education.
5) Such alternatives as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

To be determined, commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience
Performance Responsibilities:
* Supervise all career tech programs.
* Assist in assessment and evaluation of teachers and programs-Business Industry Certification requirements and recruitment and screening of CTE personnel.
* Plan and manage Perkins Fund and other related budgets.
* Serve as consultants to the professional staff on matters pertaining to CTE information and on the interpretation of laws affecting vocational personnel.
* Assist in preparing the CTE budget and all required reports.
* Conduct observations of all first-year and non-tenured/ tenured CTE teachers.
* Coordinate through the appropriate personnel all CTE work experience programs in the school system.
* Serve as liaison between the CTE program and the business community.
* Stay informed and current and assist teachers to stay informed and current in CTE education.
* Serve as leader for the CTE advisory committee.
* Assist in the purchasing process an installation and maintenance procedures for all CTE equipment. Recommend equipment purchase, repair, and disposal for all career and technical programs.
* Serve as a resource to CTE teachers for locating and securing appropriate materials.
* Be regular and punctual in attendance, and maintain confidentiality of all Board of Education related business.
* Perform other duties as might be reasonably by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.
* Collaborate with others (e.g. teachers, administrators, students, parents, other district personnel, community organizations, etc) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
* Coordinate career technical program components, support needs and materials (e.g. course offerings, textbook selection, budgets, grants, strategic plans etc.) for the purpose of meeting student needs while complying with District and /or program guidelines.
* Lead and/or participate in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
* Maintain a variety of detailed records in a variety of written and electronic formats for the purpose of meting program reporting requirements.
* Monitor program activities and components (e.g. work based learning, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that student needs are met while maintaining program and District guidelines.
* Work to identify and define local job opportunities and the role of the schools in meeting those needs.
* Make recommendations for long-term adjustments, changes, additions, and deletions in the career and technical program to meet changing job trends and needs. Maintain current knowledge of all pertinent rules and regulations affecting career and technical education.
* Identify special needs of students and assist with the writing, implementation, and evaluation of the IEP's.
* Direct guidance activities to assist students in career and technical course selection, occupational choice and decision making.
* Maintain membership and participate in career and technical education and other conferences, workshops, and in service meetings designed to provide professional skills and competencies.
* Keep supervising principal/assistant superintendent informed of potential problems or unusual events.
* Work closely with system and school staff to support school improvement initiatives and processes.
* Develop annual goals and objectives consistent with and in support of system goals and priorities.
* Assist in implementing the systems' goal and strategic commitment.
* Utilize appropriate strategies and problem solving skill to make decisions regarding planning, utilization of funds, delivering services and evaluation of services provided.
* Use a variety of communication techniques and tools to enhance collaboration and communication.
* Develop and implement a plan for staff development, based on identified needs.
Terms of employment:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensations plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the System.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy.
