Central Valley Engineering & Surveying, Inc. (CVEAS) is seeking three motivated Land Surveying professionals to join our growing team. We are a well-established civil engineering and land surveying firm serving California with projects ranging from highways and bridges to subdivisions, schools, commercial developments, and utility infrastructure.
As a signatory contractor with Operating Engineers Local 3, we offer excellent compensation and outstanding union benefits.
Position:
Land Surveyor / Party Chief / Survey Technician
We are looking for candidates with at least five (5) years of land surveying experience. A Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license is not required, but applicants should have strong technical knowledge and the ability to work independently in both field and office environments.
Responsibilities- Perform boundary, topographic, and construction surveys.
- Construction staking for highways, roads, bridges, subdivisions, commercial buildings, utilities, and public works projects.
- Conduct field measurements using GPS, robotic total stations, digital levels, and other modern survey equipment.
- Prepare and verify field notes and survey data.
- Perform office calculations and mapping using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
- Prepare exhibits, legal descriptions, plats, and survey deliverables.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients.
- Assist with multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Minimum of 5 years of surveying experience.
- Experience in boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
- Familiarity with subdivision mapping, right-of-way surveys, and utility layout.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, Excel, and related software.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in both field and office settings.
- Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to perform physical outdoor work when required.
- Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and background check.

We are also interested in qualified candidates for:
Office Survey Technician / Draftsperson- Prepare survey maps and exhibits.
- Process field data and drafting.
- Produce boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and right‑of‑way surveys.
- Coordinate with field crews and project managers.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of civil engineering experience.
- Prepare grading plans, site plans, utility plans, roadway improvements, drainage studies, and engineer’s estimates.
- Experience with subdivision design and land development projects.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency required.
- California PE license preferred for senior positions.
