The City of Selma is a vibrant and steadily growing community with a population of nearly 25,000 and is situated in the heart of California’s Central Valley. The City provides a full‑range of services to our citizens.
This is a part‑time, non‑benefited position that works directly with the Community Services Department. The role is expected to work approximately 20 hours per week from April through August. Outside of those months, hours will be assigned as needed based on departmental requirements.

PurposeUnder general supervision, will prepare and maintain softball and baseball fields for league games. Preparing the field will include dragging the infield, chalking the field according to specified dimensions, watering infield and setting bases. Maintenance will include filling infield holes, adding clay to infield when necessary and inspecting the ball fields for proper safety. Must be available on Tuesdays & Thursdays through end of August.
Qualifications/ Requirements
Knowledge and skills in preparing softball and baseball fields; ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively with other employees and the public.
Education and ExperienceAny combination of training and experience that would provide the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of the position are qualifying. Prior experience in ballfield maintenance is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C driver’s license
- Required to work evenings
- Must be available Tuesdays and Thursdays
Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical work with prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting and carrying loads weighing between 50-95 pounds.
