The High School History Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in social studies.
This teacher plays a critical role in helping students develop advanced historical thinking, analytical writing, and the ability to engage with complex ideas and perspectives
—skills essential for college, career, and civic life.
This role reports to the Head of School and works closely with the instructional team to support student growth.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Excellence- Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction grounded in Spartan Prime standards
- Teach students to analyze historical events, evaluate sources, and construct evidence-based arguments
- Use primary and secondary sources to deepen understanding and critical analysis
- Design lessons that promote discussion, debate, and higher-order thinking
- Connect historical content to modern contexts and real-world applications
- Develop students’ ability to read complex texts and write analytically
- Prepare students for postsecondary success through strong academic expectations
- Support skills aligned to college readiness and civic engagement
- Use assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student growth
- Provide targeted support and differentiation to ensure all students progress
- Build a structured, respectful classroom environment with high expectations
- Develop strong relationships with students rooted in trust and accountability
- Foster a culture of intellectual curiosity, discussion, and student voice
- Participate in PLCs, instructional coaching, and professional development
- Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen instruction and alignment
- Reflect on practice and commit to continuous improvement
