Position Overview
The Instructional Coach at The Academy of Seminole plays a critical role in improving the quality of instruction across classrooms. This position is responsible for partnering with teachers to strengthen standards-aligned instruction, increase student engagement, and drive measurable student outcomes.
The coach will support teachers through coaching cycles
, modeling, co-planning, and feedback aligned to the Academies’ instructional priorities. This role requires a strong instructional leader who can build relationships while maintaining a clear focus on rigor, alignment, and results.
Instructional Coaching & Support
- Lead and implement coaching cycles focused on standards alignment, task quality, and student outcomes
- Conduct classroom observations and provide timely, actionable feedback
- Model high-quality instruction and co-teach lessons when needed
- Support teachers in planning lessons aligned to Spartan Prime Standards and grade-level expectations
- Help teachers define, model, and use clear exemplars of mastery in instruction
Planning & Professional Learning
- Facilitate Core Conversations (PLCs) focused on student work, data, and instructional planning
- Support teachers in unpacking standards and designing rigorous, aligned tasks
- Provide professional development aligned to district priorities (e.g., literacy, math, engagement strategies)
- Assist in onboarding and supporting new teachers
Data & Instructional Improvement
- Analyze student data (e.g., NWEA MAP, classroom assessments) to identify trends and instructional needs
- Support teachers in using data to adjust instruction and monitor student progress
- Partner with school leadership to identify school-wide instructional priorities
Student Support & Intervention
- Provide targeted small-group instruction and/or push-in support during FLEX/WIN time
, particularly in reading and/or math - Support intervention planning aligned to Tier 1 instruction (not replacing core instruction)
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner closely with the Head of School and CAO to ensure alignment to district instructional vision
- Contribute to the District Instructional Leadership Team (DILT)
- Support a positive, collaborative, and growth-oriented staff culture
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred - Valid Oklahoma teaching certification
- Minimum of 3–5 years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Demonstrated success in improving student achievement
- Deep understanding of standards-based instruction and effective instructional practices
- Strong knowledge of literacy and/or math instruction (Science of Reading knowledge preferred for elementary roles)
- Experience with coaching, mentoring, or leading adults preferred
- Strong instructional expertise and content knowledge
- Ability to give clear, direct, and actionable feedback
- Skill in building relationships while maintaining high expectations
- Data-driven decision-making
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Commitment to continuous improvement and reflective practice
