Construction Management Technology Program Lead Instructor

Northwest Mississippi Community College seeks a full-time 10-month lead instructor to teach the Construction Management Technology program on the Senatobia Campus by providing modern instruction, a professional environment, and a solid reputation in our communities for quality instruction and highly qualified and desired graduates for employment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in construction management or a related field within the past five (5) years
  • Demonstrated experience in: job site management, construction safety, construction materials, cost estimation and planning
  • Willingness to obtain required certification(s)
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor
  • Positive contributions to a team environment
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Associate of Applied Science in Construction Management Technology or a closely related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Construction Management or a related field
  • Five (5) or more years of successful experience in construction management

Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

  • Ensure all program requirements and partner expectations are consistently met
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with students, colleagues, and community members
  • Deliver high-quality classroom and lab instruction using modern construction management practices and varied teaching methods
  • Prepare lesson plans, job sheets, and laboratory demonstrations for all instructional units
  • Recommend curriculum updates to ensure program relevance and industry alignment
  • Monitor student progress, including internship participation
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty and support staff
  • Continuously improve teaching methods and technical skills
  • Ensure compliance with all professional licensing and regulatory requirements
  • Teach course content aligned with syllabus, catalog standards, and workforce expectations
  • Develop, administer, and grade assessments; provide timely feedback to students
  • Support outcomes assessment and maintain high standards of student satisfaction and retention
  • Maintain accurate attendance and academic records in accordance with College policy
  • Submit required reports to the College, the Mississippi Community College Board, and other partners
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and required College events
  • Support student engagement through extracurricular and community-related activities
  • Supervise laboratory experiences and maintain a safe, clean learning environment
  • Manage inventory of program equipment, tools, and instructional materials
  • Maintain and engage an active advisory committee (minimum twice annually)
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry partners; conduct site visits and monitor internships
  • Advice and counsel students on academic and career pathways
  • Assist students with job placement in construction-related fields
  • Serve on faculty committees and support institutional initiatives
  • Contribute to the overall mission of the College through additional assigned duties
  • Participate in required training and professional development activities
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to take initiative to solve problems.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
    • Experience using technology including email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, and Internet use.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
    • Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team.
    • Must be a "quick study" to quickly grasp and retain knowledge of policies and procedures relating to every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize.
    • Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals.
    • Flexible schedule is required to meet department needs, as some evenings, weekends, and extended hours may be required.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the Instructor is regularly required to do the following:

    • Stand for long periods
    • Talk, hear, view, and assist students
    • Communicate with others in person, telephone, zoom, & live chat
    • Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms
    • Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel
    • Occasionally lift and/or move items of at least 15-20 pounds
