Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

Organizational Overview

Position Mission

Represent CNB by ensuring fiscal management, regulatory compliance, and safeguarding bank assets with a strategic long‑term focus. Support the fulfillment of the organization’s mission and goals.

Major Duties
  • Perform general cost accounting and related duties for the organization.
  • Support the Assistant Controller in processing accounts payable in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Assist with and backup monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Assist the VP‑Accounting and Assistant Controller with maintaining the general ledger.
  • Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.
  • Reconcile accounts daily/monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks using Excel and Black Line Software.
  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Coordinate with the software vendor to maintain accounting software systems and recommend updates when needed.
  • Assist in maintaining the Company‑Wide Fixed Assets list, ensuring proper addition, depreciation, and disposal entries in accordance with GAAP and bank policy.
  • Review accounts payable procedures and policies.
  • Engage with other bank departments to gain a working knowledge of all processes and procedures to better perform daily functions.
  • Prepare 1099s for Community National Bank and Community Bancshares, Inc.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly accruals and ensure timeliness and accuracy of accrual data.
  • Analyze and review expenses for operational efficiencies and budget variances.
  • Provide backup to the VP‑Accounting and Assistant Controller.
  • Maintain knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and procedures.
General Responsibilities
  • Support CNB’s strong relationship culture through quality customer service and superior product knowledge.
  • Provide superior customer service by resolving problems efficiently and responding in a timely manner.
  • Identify and implement solutions to problems in general and urgent matters.
  • Actively seek to add and enhance knowledge regarding industry developments and current trends.
  • Seek counsel of supervisor on issues as appropriate.
  • Use experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Work collaboratively with staff to maintain a team environment.
  • Remain flexible to accept additional assignments as requested by leadership.
  • Cross‑train for other positions to cover when necessary.
  • Maintain professionalism while representing CNB (on‑site, professional and community events, and communications).
  • Participate and attend meetings as requested.
  • Recommend policies and procedures as they relate to the area of responsibility.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from customers, staff, and vendors.
  • Answer telephone calls and provide a prompt response.
  • Follow CNB’s policies and procedures.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
